MEET THE DIGGERS |

You may have seen Tim “Ringmaster” Saylor and George “KG” Wyant on TV. The stars of the reality detecting show Diggers on National Geographic Channel are known to get a little crazy when they make an exciting discovery with their metal detectors. But the boys from Montana are dead serious when it comes to the brand of detectors and pinpointers they trust: Garrett Metal Detectors. Their tools of choice today are the AT Gold, AT Pro and, of course, the Garrett Pro-Pointer. KG and Ringy have been digging seriously for about ten years. In that time, they’ve amassed an impressive collection of tokens, silver coins, military buttons, buckles, relics, rings, jewelry, and all kinds of early American artifacts. They were filming their own treasure hunts years before they were featured on ABC’s Good Morning America. |
In their own show Diggers they challenge each other to see who can make the best find—whether they’re digging at the beach, where the Hatfields and McCoys feuded, or where Bonnie and Clyde were gunned down. But they are most proud of the fact that they are handing history back over to the local areas in which they dig. “Most of what we find in the shows goes directly into the museums,” says Tim. “Every once in a while, a landowner will tell us to keep a couple of things when we’ve made a lot of finds.” George adds, “Probably 99% of what we find on the show stays in the community.” |
